Good afternoon and Happy Monday! I’m a little behind my usual time today as I’m down at the shore prepping for tomorrow’s festivities. As I’m sure even most of our overseas friends are aware, tomorrow, July 4th, we celebrate that most American of holidays, Independence Day. We celebrate it with family and friends and, of course, fireworks. Whether we’re in the mountains or on a lake, at the beach or just our own backyards, we get our patriotic swag on by draping everything in red, white and blue. Including the food.
One thing you can be sure of; at picnics and gatherings all across the country there will be flag cakes, from the simple to the outrageously complicated.
This year, my friends and I are going old school and all-American with the traditional burgers, dogs, potato salad and watermelon. Although I think it’s safe to assume that a few patriotic adult bevvies will consumed.
And of course, no cookout is complete without marshmallows. We’re thinking of trying these:
