Good afternoon all. Hope you had/are having a happy Monday!

I’m on vacation this week so wanted to share a little of what I’ll be doing. Since Daddy #1 is out of town and Daddy #2* has to work in the city, I’m down near the water’s edge (at the “country estate”) looking after The Mort-man!

We have a few adventures planned like trips to the dog park, but today we took a walk across the street and down the hill to the little beach to dip all six of our feet into the water.

The rest of my time as an animal au pair this week will probably be spent

either in a hammock or at my keyboard while Morty patrols the back yard, keeping it safe from squirrels and butterflies**.

I suppose that I should add that I am also in charge of Devil Kitty. I got up from my chair for a moment and came back to 4 pages of the number 7 and 5 pages of white space. Alec had decided that my keyboard was the best place in all of the house for his afternoon siesta. Or one of them, I should say. Taking naps is a full-time job.

“Why are you here, human?”

Oh, would you look at the time! It’s half-past cocktail hour. Today we’re featuring the “Little English”:

2 oz House-made English cucumber-infused vodka

.5 oz Mint simple syrup

.75 oz St. Germain

6 dashes Grapefruit bitters

Juice of half a lemon

Mint and cucumber wheels for garnish

Place all ingredients, except garnish, in a shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass or coupe (or serve on the rocks – your choice) and garnish with mint and cucumber.  So refreshing!

Do you have any plans for the glorious remaining weeks of summer that you’d care to share?

Have a great week!
