Ahhh, serenity (set to a catchy tune, sung by a bunch of hipster doofuses* in purple band uniforms). I don’t know about you, but I needed a moment.

“Let it go, this too shall pass.
(You know you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down. No, you can’t keep lettin’ it get you down.)”

Doesn’t matter what “it” is. “This too shall pass.” Just four simple words that, when strung together, form a proverb that has been handed down from the ancient Persians. It has survived the centuries because the people of every civilization, no matter what language they speak, need to be reminded that everything – every thing – be it good or bad,  is temporary.

It is my new mantra. I repeat it out loud and to myself several times a day. It keeps a smile on my face and my head from popping off.

It’s not news that we’ve all got “stuff”. Nor is it a revelation that sometimes our stuff threatens to smother us, be it family, friends, finances…or just the laundry. Occasionally, though, we need to be reminded to just breathe and…

…that which does not kill us, makes us stronger. – Friedrich Nietzsche
