(with apologies to John Steinbeck)
It’s hard to believe that Christmas was just over a month ago. It certainly feels like longer. Perhaps it’s because this January has been a month only a Bumble could love.
Speaking of Bumble, George finally got his holiday snaps back from the drugstore (he’s old-school) and wants to share them with you. I tried to tell him that vacation photos are not generally of any interest to anyone other than the photographer or the photographed, but he’s convinced you’ll get a kick out of them.
The post-Christmas trip began with three days in Connecticut where, thankfully, there were many bottles like this one:
After we finally made it to Florida (George happily rode in a suitcase – I had to ride in the backseat), George was introduced to his uncles Michael and Jim, one of whom hasn’t progressed far beyond adolescence. I’ll let you guess which one, but it was his idea to give George a ride on the ceiling fan. He told him it was just like Disney World.
The highlight of the trip was George’s first trip to the beach, unfortunately cut short because it was freaking cold out there (by Florida standards. Of course I long for that kind of “freezing” now.) George didn’t care. He was wearing fur.
I have to say, I’m impressed by my family’s willingness to play along. Even my mother and step-father (both in their 70’s) were always on the lookout for places for George to pose. Grab a libation and check out his slide-show. It’s short. He has a good editor.
I have always lived violently, drunk hugely, eaten too much or not at all, slept around the clock or missed two nights of sleeping, worked too hard and too long in glory, or slobbed for a time in utter laziness. I’ve lifted, pulled, chopped, climbed, made love with joy and taken my hangovers as a consequence, not as a punishment.”

Minus the whirl around the ceiling fan, I wanna go on a vacation just like George did. Great pics. Fun was clearly had by all.

Love this one! I’m sure Steinbeck would be honored.
