The display is on the slopes of the appropriately named Flagstaff Hill directly below the Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors Monument on the side of the bas-relief tablet depicting The United States Sanitary Commission – a private relief agency created in 1861 to support sick and wounded soldiers during the American Civil War.
