Good morning friends!
Well, we did it. We made it to the other side of another Christmas. Every year the hustle and bustle leading up to that one special day seems to come to a screeching halt on the 26th of December. For some of us, it’s a day to laze about in our new jammies, in a food and/or drink coma, staring at the tree and wondering where the time went.
I hope you spent the day surrounded by love. I know I did. I was in the company of friends both old and new, and chosen family. We ate and drank well, exchanged thoughtfully chosen gifts and even played some games.
Then of course, I woke to the news that this horrendous year, this annus horribilis, had claimed yet another life. George Michael, dead at the age of 53. Seriously? Okay, universe, I give. Uncle! You win. Can we call it a wrap now?
I really try not to wish days away or for the speeding up of time (particularly when I’m on vacation), but I am so ready for this year to be over. I know it’s a product of the fact that I’m getting older that the names on those year-end “In Memoriam” rolls are starting to mean more, hit harder, but this year just seems particularly bad and the list particularly long. This latest name is adding insult to injury, at least to me. (I know that there are names this year that meant equally as much to others.)
It’s almost over. Just five more days and then we can start fresh. We can break out those new calendars with which we’ve been gifted (or purchased at an after-Christmas sale) and the shiny new year will be stretched out before us. And while I realize things can always be worse and I have so much to be thankful for, my hope is that 2017 will be a better year for us all.
Have a great week everyone. See you Saturday for a fun little something for New Year’s Eve!

It isn’t just a feeling. The list this year is, by far, the longest for the years such records have been kept. Can’t take much more. 😪
